Yokohama Paradise Hall hosted by artist collective Art Lab OVA (Kuri Suzuki and Zulu Kageyama) opens a donation-based teahouse and flea market inside Arrow Factory from June 22-25, 2013. The event will feature service of Japanese tea and will trade in unnecessary objects culled from Art Lab OVA’s multifunctional “garage sale” shop/information center in Yokohama. Their shop is located in a diverse district of Japan whose residents come from Filipino, Korean, Thai and Chinese backgrounds.
Yokohama-based Art Lab Ova (http://artlabova.org, http://www.facebook.com/artlabova) is a nonprofit artist-run organization that develops art projects to explore "relations" through "opportunities" and "events" at different niche locations, such as cinemas, pubs, shopping malls, zoos, welfare facilities and schools based near Yokohama Paradise Hall. Established in 1996, their work spans the realm of public intervention, politics and social engagement. |
